GOLDEN VISA / ARI

ARI or Residence Permit for Investment Activity is the possibility that foreign investors (third country nationals) have to apply for residence permit to conduct business activities provided these citizens fulfil certain requirements, namely capital transfer, the creation of job positions or the purchase of real estate property.

All third country nationals are able to apply for this residence permit / Visa if they conduct at least one of the investment activities set out by the relevant legislation:

• The purchase of real estate property with a value equal to or above 500 thousand Euros (the amount may be 350 thousand Euros if the construction of the real estate property dates back more than 30 years or is located in urban regeneration areas) for refurbishing, for a total value equal to or above 350 thousand Euros;
• Capital transfer with a value equal to or above 1 million Euros;
• The creation of, at least, 10 job positions.

Holders of a Residence Permit have the right to family reunification as well as the possibility to obtain a permanent residence visa and the Portuguese citizenship, according to the Current Legislation.
